Why Vote in Local Elections?

A short list of reasons for disillusioned liberals and leftists to vote in their local US elections.

★ You bothered to register. You might as well.
★ You don’t like anyone running? That’s fine. You’re not electing someone you trust or agree with on every issue. You’re electing the person you want to argue with. Who would listen to you, or at least Email you back?
★ I’m serious. Which politician could you personally bother into doing what you want?
★ Not voting means the only people voting will be conservatives and moderates.
★ You live here.
★ You can feel like you’ve done something to try and help improve everyone’s quality of life.
★ It’s a reason to leave the house. Or use your mailbox, if you want to vote absentee.
★ You would lose time? It’ll pass anyway.
★ If your preferred politician loses, at least you have a new and local enemy in the politician who won. Send them envelopes full of glitter. Bother them with daily Emails. Practice malicious compliance. Get them kicked out of their favorite restaurant. You don’t even have to do anything illegal to be so annoying they have a breakdown in a public restroom.
★ Voting works. If it didn’t, Republicans wouldn’t be trying to redistrict every state.
★ You hate capitalism as a whole? Yeah, me too. Consider this: it’s a lot easier to fix the foundations of your house if you’re not preoccupied with a tornado tearing through your neighborhood.
